Orange Love

Image
This was a very pretty and enjoyable layout to do, I very much enjoy doing orange layouts for some reason, but even when I had my graphic design business I used a deep yellow alot as it works with so much.  Funny.

Trying my hand at some mixed media canvas art

Image
Time to get my act back together and start showing off my creativity once again!  Despite my lack of posting, I have actually been doing quite alot.  Challenging myself with some projects and then churning out lots of scrapbook pages and enjoying every minute of it. Firstly, a couple of canvases, the first one was very challenging.  I even threw it out at one point and then went back and got it out of the bin and kept going and I do love the finished product. The second canvas I did in landscape format using pretty Finnabair and Dusty Attic stencils, plus some lovely Dusty Attic chipboard pieces.  I am trying to teach myself to do the heavy layering that so many of my favourite scrapbooking artists do.  Personally, I find it extremely challenging to do as so much goes on and gets covered up I just don't seem to be able to find my peace with it.  Anyway, this is my attempt and I am very happy with it, plus it was extremely enjoyable to do! ...

Got the Silhouette machines working

Image
After my big move I have not really had time to play with my Silhouette machines and so they have sat in situ for a few months now and so I decided to crank them up today since I had to quickly churn out a challenge inspirational project for Altair Art since I once again got the rules wrong!  Ho hum, details, details, details.  I am actually very sorry Anka. So, the theme is celebration and my 2 projects I have done for the month are to do with a new baby and so I did a boy scrapbooking layout and a girl scrapbooking layout.  For the inspirational piece I have chosen to go with birthday celebration and did a kind of flower display I guess.  I got the file from simplysvgcuts.com and off we went.  It was all pretty easy to assemble and then I added in a few more elements that I die cut out on my Sizzix machine, just to add a bit more to the layout. It is ok as a finished product, but not really my sort of thing.  I might even play around with it and see i...

Finally some time to just be creative for myself

Image
With my huge change of life of recent months, there has barely been enough time to keep up with my design team commitments and I do not like that at all.  Going from a Mum to one, to a Mum to four, ranging in age from 5 to 18 has been a huge change and been challenging, rewarding, exciting, frustrating, hilarious and just plain crazy, all at different times and sometimes all at the same time.  Being with someone that I truly love, more than I ever thought possible is the reward and what a reward it is, but loving someone takes time and so something had to give and that was the time I have to craft. So, I got some time to just simply do my own thing and I enjoyed that very much.  I used to churn out a piece every 2-3 days and now it is more like once a week, well, for now anyway.  I very much enjoyed working on this design, I just had a bit of fun with it and I really love the colouring and the colour mix that is happening.

Challenging myself with Collage style

Image
Hey there, I have been having much fun of late trying out a new style which I actually find quite challenging, but loads of fun.  When I look at the work of European designers, alot of them have this awesome style of lots of layering, texture, sparkles, ephemera, chipboard and more and more and more.  I love it, but I find it difficult as I do not like to be wasteful, I mean, scrapbooking products cost alot of money and we are not all endowed with free product to use.  I know I am not.  So, I have my Silhouette machines, which I like to put to good use.  I recently got a "cut anything" blade for my machines, so I am looking forward to trying that out too and creating all sorts of elements. These are a few layouts that I have created recently using this style.  I am still quite reserved with my use of embellishments in comparison, but it is hugely generous for me currently.  I really do love the final results, they are quite gorgeous and I know my s...

Colouring fun with Hero Arts Digi Download

Image
Presenting my latest layout as a design team member for a2z scrapbooking using digital stamps from Hero Arts.  This is my 2nd foray into the use of digital stamps on a hybrid layout and I must say, I do love them using a bit.  While using them in this way requires extra work, colouring and cutting out, I like it as it just makes another dimension of work to add to the layout. So, the challenge at a2z scrapbooking this month is Bright and Beautiful, gorgeous theme when you think about it, so many options.  I turned to Hero Arts Instant Download Poetic Petals Digital Stamps PT004 as the flowers are the perfect theme.  I had lots of painful hand fun colouring them in using my chameleon markers and pencils.   I started with a blank canvas and did some stencilling with embossing paste, which I really can hardly be seen now, but I did have a different layout in mind initially.  I intended to use an array of Lindy's Magical Shakers anyway to create ...

Little Boy Baby Blue

Image
Recently, I got to do a layout for a friend of a beautiful baby boy in blue.  Really gorgeous little boy too.  Anyhoo, I had lots of fun with this layout, using 3 different stencils, Kaisercraft ephemera and a lovely piece of ScrapFX chipboard. The background paper is from the Kaisercraft Frosted range that has Christmas elements on it, so I just covered those up creatively with ripped paper panels top and bottom.  I had a bit of fun with stencilling on this one, using 3 different stencils all with silver embossing paste.  The butterfly stencil is also from Kaiser, but I must confess that I am a little in love with it.  The ephemera is also from Kaisercraft, but the swirly chippy piece is from Scrap FX, which I embossed using a few different powders.  The lattice panel, I cut out on the Silhouette and painted with some silver watercolour paint.  This is a really pretty layout and once it goes in a white frame, it will look beautifully finished. ...
