Tribute to Great Dads

Image
Definitely one of my favourite layouts currently, alot of my green layouts I do like alot to be honest.  This one is for the World's Greatest Dad and perhaps I need to keep this one for myself and put the Dad that is my beautiful partner in it, well, not him, just a picture of him!  I used the pretty chipboard of little hearts from Dusty Attic in this along with one of their stencils.  Anyway, I hope you like it. Wishing you fun in your creative journey, see you again soon, Delia

Okay, so yes, I am back!  Been away for a few months as I changed my life from being a city chick and becoming a farm chick!!  It has been an amazing ride.  I now live on an 8000 acre cattle property after coming for an interview for a nanny and falling in love with the absolute love of my life.  So, I guess I became a stepmum almost overnight and living on a farm with cattle, driving utes and four wheel drives on many a dirt road and having to drive at least an hour to get groceries.  I love it all, my life is how it was always meant to be and I am more happy than I can possibly describe.   Finding time to be creative has been most difficult, first of all I had no space, but found a table outside, but then the weather caused all sorts of issues even though it was undercover.  Some more accommodation was added to the house which freed up another large room and then that has become the classroom and my craft room.  So, I finally have some spac...

Halloween Colours - A Nice Mix

Image
I am very much so a freewheeling designer, I do not plan or pick out things I wish to use beforehand, it all just happens very organically and evolves.  I did know that I wished to use purple and orange with a touch of green as my colour mix and I had just bought this piece of Imaginarium designs chipboard frame.  I love layers and never do flat designs and lots of texture.  I went on a spending spree and got some new leaf dies as well, so I got to use them throughout as well. These colours are traditionally used for Halloween, but that is not what this design is for particularly, though the end owner may like to use it for that, I just like the colours mixed together.  There are many flowers throughout from a variety of sources, a few ribbons here and there and then loads more.  I very much enjoyed creating this layout.  I realise alot of people create a layout within a day, but that is not really my style, I take about 3 days to fully complete it...

Black, White and Yellow are a Cheery Combo

Image
Such cheeriness, aided muchly by the bike on top of the yellow.  This was a fun layout to work on, it must be the colours.  I guess black and white make it easy and then one other colour cuts down the options, so it just seems easier to find things that go, perhaps just quicker.  Gosh, sometimes going through ephemera can be so draining, I have sorted it out into colours now and that seems to work better than whatever I had it as before.  Room is always the issue in my craft area - I always need more of it, though I do have a plan on building something easy and a bit different shortly.  I do look forward to that, just got to work out how it can work in my strange space.  No mind, all that for another day. Ok, so back to the marvellous artwork.  I love bikes, I loved riding them, in fact, I lived on mine as a child, a bike was freedom and we had lots of space to enjoy just that.  Anyway, groovy paper I have liked in my stash for a while no...

Call of the Wild

Image
The green ribbon with its cute green leaves is what inspired this entire design.  I just thought it was cute and so I let that take me wherever.  It started with playing around with the background where I allowed the inks to flow in both directions after some modelling paste through a stencil.  I then saw these old incense sticks I have kept (because crafting makes you save everything, just in case!)  So I managed to use a few of those up and then I rummaged through my wooden Kaisercraft embellishment stash and found a few things and then we started with the paper.  Built it up, wove the ribbon around and stuck it down in a few places to ensure it stays but does not interfere with the photo area.   I then went out and walked around the yard as I needed some white feathers and I just know that one of my chickens or the visiting cockatoos would have left me some somewhere.  Found, glued and a few other bits and pieces.  A little birdy in th...
