Particularly Pretty

Image
Love, love, love this layout, it is just so pretty and was super enjoyable to create.  It is hard to see, but it started out with the use of a beautiful swirly stencil which I then coloured using Lindy's Magicals.  You can see some of it here in this image below. I always struggle with that when you create a beautiful background and it gets covered up.  I have done that on another picture frame and I am now struggling to finish it because I love the background so much.  No mind.  Anyway, my colours were yellow, orange and purple.  Purple is such a funny colour as the interpretations of it change from crimson through to lilac.  I delved into my bag of beautiful lace and found this totes gorgeous lace with its hanging threads, it is so very pretty and works so wonderfully on this design too.   I then decided that a fan of butterflies was required and so on they went with some lovely pearlescent embossing paste and then the layering begins.  Lots of flowers, chipboard

Chief Scrapbooker and Documenter of Life

Image
A little babe has been born unto my family to my niece, a little boy and my present to Mum is to be the self appointed Chief Scrapbooker and Documenter of Life.  I proudly take on this position, firstly, how cool and secondly, I really need photo subjects.  Please note, this is a genuine offer, if you would like a photo scrapbooked, please send it to me as I am more than willing to do so.  Currently, I have a 16yo daughter who is not overly fond of the camera.  Don't know why, as she is very beautiful.  I am working on her. As soon as I saw this pic of little babe wrapped in the yellow towel, I knew exactly which paper I would be using.  I had spied the yellow lemon paper when I first bought this pad and so it was the perfect match.

Black, White and Yellow are a Cheery Combo

Image
Such cheeriness, aided muchly by the bike on top of the yellow.  This was a fun layout to work on, it must be the colours.  I guess black and white make it easy and then one other colour cuts down the options, so it just seems easier to find things that go, perhaps just quicker.  Gosh, sometimes going through ephemera can be so draining, I have sorted it out into colours now and that seems to work better than whatever I had it as before.  Room is always the issue in my craft area - I always need more of it, though I do have a plan on building something easy and a bit different shortly.  I do look forward to that, just got to work out how it can work in my strange space.  No mind, all that for another day. Ok, so back to the marvellous artwork.  I love bikes, I loved riding them, in fact, I lived on mine as a child, a bike was freedom and we had lots of space to enjoy just that.  Anyway, groovy paper I have liked in my stash for a while now and then hunted down 2 other smaller

Pink Vintage

Image
This is such an amazing layout, so much for the eye to look at - lots of lace, vintage looking papers and lots and lots of pink prettiness.  I don't really know what to say about it except to say that the pictures will speak for it.  I realise good design means that we have 'islands' and 'oceans' as the entire area is filled, but it just kind of works in this situation.  I wouldn't generally do this kind of layout, but it was just fun and I really like all the layers and bits of lace poking out.  Even the filmstrip is just kinda cool.  Ready for a photo to be inserted. See some close ups below.  All designs are for sale framed in a shadowbox frame.  Each measures 300 x 300mm before being inserted into the frame.   Please visit our website www.jacobicreations.com

Call of the Wild

Image
The green ribbon with its cute green leaves is what inspired this entire design.  I just thought it was cute and so I let that take me wherever.  It started with playing around with the background where I allowed the inks to flow in both directions after some modelling paste through a stencil.  I then saw these old incense sticks I have kept (because crafting makes you save everything, just in case!)  So I managed to use a few of those up and then I rummaged through my wooden Kaisercraft embellishment stash and found a few things and then we started with the paper.  Built it up, wove the ribbon around and stuck it down in a few places to ensure it stays but does not interfere with the photo area.   I then went out and walked around the yard as I needed some white feathers and I just know that one of my chickens or the visiting cockatoos would have left me some somewhere.  Found, glued and a few other bits and pieces.  A little birdy in the corner and some white splatters and d

Pretty in Pink

Image
If you asked me to pick my top 10 favourite colours, pink would not be one of them!  However, it constantly manages to creep into my artwork.  Weird.  This layout was done for the More than Words challenge for the month of April, which is black and white, plus one and using the word "Dream".  I forgot about the Dream part as you will see, so perhaps it won't get entered after all. This candy floss pink is such a pretty colour and coupled with black and white, it is just so elegant and classy.  I had alot of fun with this design, playing with the ribbon initially to see if I liked it curving along, but it worked brilliantly and the left over ribbon then got threaded through the cut panel that sits behind the image panel.  I had a little play with Lindy's Magical Shakers using it in my modelling paste to create pink.  The variance of colour in these shaker colours is truly extraordinary, yesterday, I used it to make red modelling paste and it was the most vi

Green Dreams

And then there was green with black and white and yes, I finally remembered to put the word "dream" on at long last ... better late than never!  Hooray for me.  This is such a great layout as it showcases so many items purchased at the cheap shop.  The white swirl is a piece of chipboard which I painted white and then embossed in white so it is nice and smooth and shiny.  The tag with the spots on that pokes up from behind is also from the cheap shop as is the peg.  You gotta love the cheap shops.  Somehow I manage to spend over $100 in them every time - it is amazing how those $2 things add up. The rest of the ephemera is Kaisercraft - I seriously have alot of it, plus the flowers except for the green one.  Word letters are Thickers and papers are from all kinds.  I am not helping to promote any products, this is all just done for my own enjoyment.  If you would like to purchase this layout, please go to the shop (not currently active, so just contact us in the mean

The Vibrance of Red

Image
Okay, so I am really getting into the April More than Words Challenge of black and white, plus one, utilising the word "Dream" ... and yes, forgot about the word here too!!  It was after I had done two that someone awesome mentioned on facebook about the word and I honestly felt like they were saying it just for me.  I was like, ohhhhh.  Never mind.  Anyway, back to red and the reality is that for a bold statement, black, white and red is surely a definite way to go! I really wanted to start with a black base and then found out that is my last black piece until I go buy more ... sad.  Onwards and upwards and after quite a few hours, out popped this little number.  I really like so many little things on this page, firstly, there are the red dot like stencil patterns, then the doilies made this magic.  The little black and red heart layered is also just a lovely touch, followed by the cascading butterflies and last, but not least, using Glossy Accents on the word hello and
