Got the Silhouette machines working

Image
After my big move I have not really had time to play with my Silhouette machines and so they have sat in situ for a few months now and so I decided to crank them up today since I had to quickly churn out a challenge inspirational project for Altair Art since I once again got the rules wrong!  Ho hum, details, details, details.  I am actually very sorry Anka. So, the theme is celebration and my 2 projects I have done for the month are to do with a new baby and so I did a boy scrapbooking layout and a girl scrapbooking layout.  For the inspirational piece I have chosen to go with birthday celebration and did a kind of flower display I guess.  I got the file from simplysvgcuts.com and off we went.  It was all pretty easy to assemble and then I added in a few more elements that I die cut out on my Sizzix machine, just to add a bit more to the layout. It is ok as a finished product, but not really my sort of thing.  I might even play around with it and see i...

Pink Vintage

Image
This is such an amazing layout, so much for the eye to look at - lots of lace, vintage looking papers and lots and lots of pink prettiness.  I don't really know what to say about it except to say that the pictures will speak for it.  I realise good design means that we have 'islands' and 'oceans' as the entire area is filled, but it just kind of works in this situation.  I wouldn't generally do this kind of layout, but it was just fun and I really like all the layers and bits of lace poking out.  Even the filmstrip is just kinda cool.  Ready for a photo to be inserted. See some close ups below.  All designs are for sale framed in a shadowbox frame.  Each measures 300 x 300mm before being inserted into the frame.   Please visit our website www.jacobicreations.com

Pretty in Pink

Image
If you asked me to pick my top 10 favourite colours, pink would not be one of them!  However, it constantly manages to creep into my artwork.  Weird.  This layout was done for the More than Words challenge for the month of April, which is black and white, plus one and using the word "Dream".  I forgot about the Dream part as you will see, so perhaps it won't get entered after all. This candy floss pink is such a pretty colour and coupled with black and white, it is just so elegant and classy.  I had alot of fun with this design, playing with the ribbon initially to see if I liked it curving along, but it worked brilliantly and the left over ribbon then got threaded through the cut panel that sits behind the image panel.  I had a little play with Lindy's Magical Shakers using it in my modelling paste to create pink.  The variance of colour in these shaker colours is truly extraordinary, yesterday, I used it to make red modelling paste and it...
