Pretty ocean layout

Image
Layouts to do with the ocean or the beach are always my most favourite layouts to do and this one was no exception either.  i got to use lots of Dusty Attic chippies throughout along with various pieces of Kaisercraft ephemera.  To create the netting I had an old netted bag that onions and lemons and limes comes in, then painted it with a few coats of white gesso and it worked absolutely brilliantly.   Just one picture for this one.  See you next time, Delia

Trying my hand at some mixed media canvas art

Image
Time to get my act back together and start showing off my creativity once again!  Despite my lack of posting, I have actually been doing quite alot.  Challenging myself with some projects and then churning out lots of scrapbook pages and enjoying every minute of it. Firstly, a couple of canvases, the first one was very challenging.  I even threw it out at one point and then went back and got it out of the bin and kept going and I do love the finished product. The second canvas I did in landscape format using pretty Finnabair and Dusty Attic stencils, plus some lovely Dusty Attic chipboard pieces.  I am trying to teach myself to do the heavy layering that so many of my favourite scrapbooking artists do.  Personally, I find it extremely challenging to do as so much goes on and gets covered up I just don't seem to be able to find my peace with it.  Anyway, this is my attempt and I am very happy with it, plus it was extremely enjoyable to do! ...

Altair Art works for October

Image
Hello All, What a busy month, but every month is in the second half of the year!  Time to share my recent Altair Art creations for this month.  I kind of got into the Christmas season a little early as some new papers were released, but they are my 2 pieces for the blog, first I want to show you my piece for the theme for this month.  The theme for the month over at Altair Art is "sparkle and shine" in the artwork, so here is my contribution. The next two pieces are where I got Christmassy.  The first using the new Altair Art Christmas papers, see below: And my final Christmassy piece is a nice blue one, still using Altair Art papers, just not the specific Christmas ones.   I hope you like them all and have fun entering your own piece for the theme of the month.  Well, enjoy yourselves, have fun and always find time to be creative. Flower Power with Hero Arts and A2Z scrapbooking

Image
Flower Power is the theme of the month over at A2Z scrapbooking this month.  Literally, say no more!  I do believe we have already established that I loooove flowers.  Not in my garden though, just in my art!  I prefer non-flowering plants in my garden - strange, I know!! So, using the Hero Arts Digital Download called Pretty Blossoms I coloured the flowers in photoshop and then printed them out on gloss photo paper and fussy cut them out.  I started with some white card and clear gessoed it so that it was prepared for future textures and sprays.  Using a Kaisercraft flower stencil I used white embossing paste and applied that to the background and them mixed some white embossing paste with some "Polka Purple" from Lindy's Magicals and applied that through a Prima stencil.  My favourite Lindy's Magical is "Oom Pah Pah Pink" and so I lightly sprinkled some of that over the embossed background and hit it with the water spray and it certainly worked it...

Don't Wake Up to be Ordinary

Image
I have a few statements that I like to use and live by and "Don't Wake Up to be Ordinary" is my new favourite.  Another favourite is "a year from now you will wish you started a year ago", that one had a great impact on my recent life change.  The one that I live by everyday is "do unto others as you would have done unto you", sooo important. Anyway, creative time for Altair Art - this time I wanted to do something off the page and this new favourite statement seemed like a good match with a garlic cutting board thing I had found and put in the "future off the page" cupboard.  I started by covering it with white gesso and then got out some Ranger Perfect Pearls and painted it blue and then I had a little play with my new Distress Oxides and got some groovy effects going on, but nothing that you will be able to see.  I then smeared some texture paste over the top and using Altair Art papers I laid a yellow and white check to the inner backgr...
